Ter gelegenheid van het 40-jarig bestaan van EKKO keert EINDBAAS terug met een nieuwe editie. EINDBAAS is een clubnacht waar artiesten live optreden met muziek die gemaakt is op of geïnspireerd door oude spelcomputers zoals de Nintendo Game Boy en Commodore 64, in combinatie met moderne synthesizers en drumcomputers. Chipmusic, zoals het genre heet, klinkt futuristisch en nostalgisch tegelijk: energiek, eigenzinnig en nergens anders te horen. Verwacht een avond waar retro-esthetiek en eigentijdse clubmuziek samenkomen op een manier die je niet snel zult vergeten.

Sinds de eerste editie in 2009 heeft EINDBAAS bijna dertig clubavonden georganiseerd in Utrecht en Amsterdam, met meer dan 120 artiesten uit de hele wereld live op het podium. Van Japanse chipcomponisten tot Zweedse synthpioniers, van bitpop tot breakcore de muzikale diversiteit binnen de scene is groot. EKKO is daarbij altijd de thuisbasis geweest, en de combinatie van niche muziek en een intieme dansvloer waar iedereen zichzelf kan zijn, heeft EINDBAAS een vaste plek bezorgd in het Utrechtse uitgaansleven.

Laamaa heeft al meer dan 25 jaar ervaring in tracker- en chiptunemuziek en is een gevestigde naam uit de rijke Scandinavische chipscene. Zijn composities zijn melodieus en complex, met een indrukwekkende beheersing van synthesis ongeacht de strenge beperkingen van de hardware waar hij mee werkt. Of het nu gaat om producties voor de ZX Spectrum, DOS of Game Boy, Laamaa weet er wel raad mee!

We maakten geen grapje toen we het hadden over de Scandinavische scene. sm0hm bracht eerder dit jaar nog een release uit op het het welbekende 8bitpeoples label. Deze chiptek extraordinair is een tijdje stil geweest, maar we zijn blij dat hij besloten heeft de Gameboy en NES nogmaals af te stoffen. Met deze oude systemen produceert hij rammende clubmuziek die je volledig naar het hier en nu trekken.

We zijn altijd blij om te stuiten op nieuw talent uit ons eigen land. Maar de kwaliteit van Sunnexo's producties overtrof al onze verwachtingen. In een paar jaartjes is deze HKU student al meerdere miljoenen keren online gestreamd. Wij kunnen niet wachten om Sunnexo eindelijk over EKKO's geluidssysteem te kunnen bewonderen. For EKKO's 40th anniversary, EINDBAAS returns with a new edition. EINDBAAS is a club night where artists perform live with music made on or inspired by old game consoles such as the Nintendo Game Boy and Commodore 64, in combination with modern synthesizers and drum machines. Chip music, as the genre is called, sounds futuristic and nostalgic at the same time: energetic, witty and cannot be heard anywhere else. Expect an evening where retro aesthetics and contemporary club music come together in a way you won't soon forget.

Since the first edition in 2009, EINDBAAS has organized almost thirty club nights in Utrecht and Amsterdam, with more than 120 artists from all over the world live on stage. From Japanese chip composers to Swedish synth pioneers, from bitpop to breakcore the musical diversity within the scene is great. EKKO has always been its home base, and the combination of niche music and an intimate dance floor where everyone can be themselves has given EINDBAAS a permanent place in Utrecht's nightlife.

With more than 25 years of experience in tracker and chiptune music, Laamaa is an established name in the rich Scandinavian chip scene. His compositions are melodic and complex, with an impressive command of synthesis regardless of the strict limitations of the hardware he works with. Whether it concerns productions for the ZX Spectrum, DOS or Game Boy, Laamaa knows how to handle it!

We weren't joking about the Scandinavian scene. Earlier this year, we saw sm0hm put out a release on the well-established 8bitpeoples label. This chiptek extraordinaire has been quiet for a while, but we are glad he decided to dust off the Gameboy and NES once again. With these old systems, he produces pounding club music that pulls you completely into the here and now.

We are always happy to stumble upon new talent from our own country. But the quality of Sunnexo's productions exceeded all our expectations. In just a few years, this HKU student has already accumulated several million streams. We can't wait to finally enjoy Sunnexo on EKKO's sound system.
