Biography DJ Marysol
Fine talent, High Energy, Love for Music, and a passionate drive for life have made this red hot Chilli pepper a female force on top of the world. In 2006 she will be celebrating her first decade of serious fun, sorry, we mean playing, and being one of the most wanted female DJs in the biz.
Let us start with some essential background information. Marysol was born in Santiago de Chile near the end of the rocking 70´s. At the age of fifteen Marysol left Chile and joined her father -a political refugee who had fled the Pinochet regime- in Paris. She got her kicks from listening to electronic underground music, such as Echo & The Bunnymen, The Cure, David Bowie, Death Can Dance and Depeche Mode. Paris nightlife lured her into a new international world of joy and electronic dance music.
While originally planning a career in painting and applying at the Beaux Arts Academy, destiny induced Marysol into the wonderful world of modelling. After becoming the face of Helena Rubinstein, and getting acquainted with the limited creativity a day to day job as a model brings, she decided to change her career and life drastically. As every true artists main goal in life, Marysol needed to focus on doing something coming straight from the heart, which would provide a lot more interaction with people. DJ Marysol was about to enter the scene.
Quite soon Marysol started doing on and off gigs at various Parisian clubs, but it was not until she started playing in Amsterdam that things really started to take off for her. The heat was on when she joined the Chemistry organisation as one of the residents of their famous weekly Chemistry nights. In 2001, Marysol pioneered as a co-organiser and DJ for this organisations new adventure called Rush. An instant hit.
After the rush of Rush she continued working under Chemistrys flag with her very own MARYSOL Inc. night, which was nominated Best Dutch club night in its first year. Till this day Marysols passionate drive brings her respect and success around the globe. Summer 2005 she landed rocking residencies for Sundown at Amnesia (Ibiza) and Pacha (Barcelona) and the Red Light club in Paris.
The Ibiza experience is a whole different ballgame for this chica. She calls this island her home away from home, and is one of the local forces in nightlife habitat there. She witnessed the dawning of Circo Loco at DC10, and was one of the people that made this popular joint to what it is today. Next to her residency at the weekly Sundown nights she also collaborates with the Zenith organisation. Above all, this island continues to be an unlimited source of inspiration for her.
Her steady sound can best be described as original and international electro house, with influences ranging from house to minimal, with deep, percussive rhythms. Shortly said: "a mix of Everything Now".
Besides her own Sounds of Summer (2000) compilation, and one for Sundown (2004), she is now preparing a new mix for Red Light in Paris, that is due to come out in 2006. Next to this a German tour is planned for 2006 by club 3001.
