It would be fair to say that Majestic Mc / Maj / Majman can trace his musical roots back to 1998 during his primary school days, where K.A.C was created, with little Maj using his own initials as a stage name whilst rapping at home for fun. Around 1999, he was introduced to Speed Garage by his older sister, and this is where it all began. An early influence for Majestic was Passion FMs DJ Kanga, who Maj now often partners on North Londons leading pirate radio station, Subjam 104.7 fm. After just a year of listening to the sounds of UK Garage, Majestic got his first pair of decks for Christmas in 1999, as a present from his parents (big up Michelle and Colin!!)
As He begun experimenting and beginning to mix on his own, Maj started to use lyrics from other tunes and rap them over the music. This is where his love of Mcin began, and as soon as he heard Da Clicks Good Rhymes, Maj knew that he wanted to become an mc. A year or so later, as he felt that his skills were progressing,K.A.C changed his name to `Majestic', with a view to looking forwards and progressing and developing these self-taught skills. By now an almost fanatic fan of pirate radio, Majestic listened to the likes of Passion, MISSION/Y2K, Freek and De Ja Vu and would regularly tape radio sets to hear the latest tunes, lyrics and vibes, and also hope to catch some instrumentals which he could write to. Early Influences at this time were the likes of Heartless off Mission fm and Sublow and the now award winning Mc B-Live on passion fm.
In 2000 as the garage sound grew rapidly in popularity, Majestic could more often than not be found in the playground of the legendary St. Ignatius secondary school, regularly Mcing , Rhyming and Showcasing mixtapes he had made at home. It was at this time that he hooked up with School Friend Joel James (Dj Hyper) to form what was known as the Hyper Crew. (yes a 2 man crew, you know thas doin a lot!) Around the age of 14 Majestic began to attend an under 18s night called BUGGIN at the EROS super club in enfield (R.I.P), with his life-long friends Mr Ar, J-mac and Dan the Man who had his back 100% when it came to rhyming and always encouraged him to showcase his talent. Majestics first time on stage came at one of these events, where Swiss from So Solid hosted an open mic competition for the young ravers. Just as eager for Majestic to spit as he himself was, his mates pushed him to the front of the crowd, and Majestic had his spot, going against roughly 5 other mcs of similar ages, although most were a year or so older. Majestics hype and crowd-moving style were displayed for the first time, with the crowd unanimously voting him as the winner, as he spat 16 bars over the Reservoir Dogs Buddha Finger, the lyrics of which he can still recall to this day.
Now certain that he wanted to regularly hold the mic and please the crowd, Majestic hooked up with another Ignatian, Andrew Peters, known to many as DJ Huggy. Together they formed the U.V.K (ultimate vibe kru) and began to make tapes to hand out around their area, catching peoples attention to such an extent that they found themselves playing out in Waltham X and Waltham Abbey almost every weekend, at pubs, bars and parties. In 2002, majestic got his first taste of pirate radio at the tender age of 15 thanks to Dj Skillz, a DJ who did not simply disregard Majestic as being too young, inviting him on his show on Tuesdays, 6-8 on Time fm, 104.6. The show quickly became very popular, with Skills and Maj forming the S & M show every Tuesday, which went out to 1000s around london town. In 2004, Time fm then moved Frequency to 104.7, becoming Subjam, with majestic staying with his partner skillz, all the time writing new lyrics and performing to young people and whoever wanted to listen. As Subjam moved forwards Majestic became friends with another Dj at the station, Funky-D, who was putting on regular club nights and who before long had made Majestic the Resident mc for these nights. In the Summer of 2005, whilst in Zante with J-mac, A.R. and the rest of the boys, Majestic found himself performing alongside Sticky at Twice as Nice at Black and white .
After having arrived home, the bookings started to increase in number, with Majestic finding himself performing at Rudolphs, Opera House, Eros, Scala, Pacific Edge, Mud Club (Bognor Regis), Castle Club (Malia), Hollywoods + too many others to mention. The Summer of 2006 saw Majestic playing at Scala in Kings X almost every weekend for various promotions Including, REMINISICE, PIONEERS OF THE OLD SKOOL, MIX IT UP and also as a resident for PURE OLD SKOOL (a life-long ambition of his!!) Kofi B: This mans unmissable energy has rubbed off on majestic as can be seen when they perform together - two fun guys who love to hold the mic and have a drink and a few jokes!!
