M-Cécile was brought up in a very classical environment as her mother is a professional classical singer. Amongst other things, this gave M-Cécile her a special sensitivity for melody. As a child, she also played the piano but, at the age of 14, started to play drums - and later took more specialised courses in drum rhythms (like Brazilian samba en batucada). Her background in combining melody and rhythm makes her unique in the way she mixes records. She's also one of the first female DJs in the world, having started in 1992. She's been through disco, 80s music and acid jazz.
But it was in 1990, when she heard DJ Dimitri playing house music, that some great music had finally touched her again and a new passion was born. Today, she finds it important that musicians keep getting involved with electronic and house music and work together with the producers of today to continually push the boundaries of house music. She especially loves the combination of instruments played live with electronic music on vinyl. You can listen and download two or her mixes at www.luminaradio.com
